I added a bunch of photos to the blog yesterday, and I thought it might be my last post before we come home tomorrow, but we saw a weta today! It's a large scary-looking bug, the giant weta is the largest insect in the world ... The biggest weta they've ever found had a wingspan of 7 inches and weighed as much as three mice! It was found on Little Barrier Island, NZ. New Zealand is the only place wetas live. People here love wetas and revere them.
Ours was not a giant one, but it was pretty darn big!
Here it is on Stef's towel!

PS - If you have any questions about New Zealand, you could go to this encyclopedia
where you could find out more about the weta, or cicadas, or kiwi birds, or the Maori people, or monarch butterflies, or the silver fern ... anything New Zealand.
